2018 Chill Holiday Essentials

For some inexplicable reason, I have delayed my ritual of looping my Christmas playlist nonstop to this weekend. This year, I have been nothing but ON TOP OF my holiday shopping, but a recent hand injury has really been testing my Christmas cheer.

The best thing that's come out of this injury (and my inability to practice) has been the immense amounts of free time I now find myself with. I've been able to finally work on some projects I managed to put off during the school year. And, I've found ways to satisfy my creative urges— many of these discoveries made this post today. If you're looking for some ways to chill this holiday season, look no further:

ONE Holiday Essential Oil Blends

I started getting into essential oil mixing a lot more this winter. There are so many different oils out there, but I tend to stick to the basics— lavender, tea tree, peppermint, orange. Don't get me wrong, these are "essential" (I had to), but I wanted to find some new ones that were both mood-boosting and festive. So far, I've fallen in love with an orange/ginger/cinnamon combo— it smells like a delicious holiday pie!

TWO Incense

Another scent-related idea for you! I have nothing against candle-burning, but I was interested in incense for its ability to remove negative energy. When I was shopping at my local Fresh Thyme, I came across Shoyiedo's Frankincense. It smells wonderful and won't overpower even the smallest of rooms.

THREE Poses for Giving

Once I received the "OK" from my doctor, you best believe I started going to yoga classes again. The heart chakra, related to kindness, love, and peace, is one that should be targeted in this season of giving. If you're interested in learning more about Chakra, I plan on doing a post dedicated to them soon!

So, tell me, what are your secrets for relaxing around the holidays?

New CGM Shampoo

Molly Weatherford Two years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life. Ever since I started the “Curly Girl Method” which was developed by Lorraine Massey (you can find her amazingly informative book here ), I’ve been shocked by how much better my natural hair continues to look and feel. I’ve included a picture that compares the first day I started the Method to six weeks into the process. My point: it doesn’t take long, people! One the most complicated parts of the Method is finding products that are curly hair-friendly: they can’t have parabens or silicones. Once you learn how to identify these ingredients, the next obstacle is finding products without either since almost every hair product on the market has them. About two weeks ago, I was looking for a new shampoo and stumbled across a new product line from SheaMoisture. I’ve heard good things about the brand but never actually tried out any of the products for myself. They had a giant display for a...
