Letting Go with Lotus and Chamomile

Beth Rondale

Growing up in the 60's, the "flower child" culture ideals of peace and love still resonate with me. And they're needed in the world more now than ever. But I won't even go there right now.

Anyway, when choosing beauty products, I like to support companies that also embrace the 60's vibes. For me, peace and love are embraced by ethical companies, and I'm personally drawn to small businesses since I feel they tend to take more care in the process of developing their products. While SheaMoisture (the company who created the products I'm about to discuss) isn't small, it is definitely ethical. See an example of one of their projects here.

Their new line of haircare products, Lotus and Chamomile, is wonderfully hydrating without weighing down my hair. And everything smells AMAZING! The icing on the cake is that every SheaMoisture product is also cruelty free, ethically sourced, and uses all organic ingredients. I promise I'm not being paid to say this, but if anyone from SheaMoisture stumbles across this post, I'd be more than happy to endorse you!

I started out buying the shampoo and conditioner, which were $10 each at Target. That was a month ago, and since then I have also purchased the scalp elixir and leave-in conditioner. I swear, my hair loves this stuff. For those of you who are "night-showerers", the aromatherapeutic scent is perfect for melting away stress.

If you do end up going out and giving the products a go, don't be scared off by the ingredients. Yes, there is shea butter in the shampoo, but I promise you you won't step out of the shower looking like a greasy mess. It's super hydrating, and a little of any of these products goes a long way.

If you're looking to switch up your hair routine or make the switch to natural hair products, I highly recommend you give Lotus and Chamomile a try. I hope to make a post soon on my holy-grail beauty products- don't be surprised if you end up reading about these products again ;)

New CGM Shampoo

Molly Weatherford Two years ago, I made one of the best decisions of my life. Ever since I started the “Curly Girl Method” which was developed by Lorraine Massey (you can find her amazingly informative book here ), I’ve been shocked by how much better my natural hair continues to look and feel. I’ve included a picture that compares the first day I started the Method to six weeks into the process. My point: it doesn’t take long, people! One the most complicated parts of the Method is finding products that are curly hair-friendly: they can’t have parabens or silicones. Once you learn how to identify these ingredients, the next obstacle is finding products without either since almost every hair product on the market has them. About two weeks ago, I was looking for a new shampoo and stumbled across a new product line from SheaMoisture. I’ve heard good things about the brand but never actually tried out any of the products for myself. They had a giant display for a...
